On the 7th of May, in the Verlab Institute Bioinformatics workshop was held by research associate dr. Adna Ašić. During the half-day workshop, Dr. Ašić shared with participants the reasons behind the rapid development of bioinformatics in recent decades, and acquainted them with the theory and practice related to two fundamental skills in computer processing of biological data: accessing biological data and aligning biological sequences, and interpreting results. The workshop comprised a combination of lectures, demonstrations, and practical tasks that participants solved independently, followed by discussions to enhance their understanding of these areas.
The workshop had over 70 participants, with 10 attending in-person at the Verlab Institute premises, while the remaining participants joined online in this hybrid event.
