Recently, Verlab Institute concluded another engaging workshop, this time focusing on Virtual Reality (VR) in Medicine. The event, held both in-person at our institute and virtually via Zoom, offered participants a comprehensive overview of how VR technology is transforming the medical field.
Workshop Highlights
The workshop, led by Dr. Faruk Gutić, a renowned medical professional, and Faruk Bećirović, an expert in AI/ML engineering, provided a deep dive into the foundational aspects of VR tools in medicine. Attendees had the unique opportunity to explore:
- Fundamentals of VR Tools in Medicine: Participants learned about the various VR technologies available and how they are applied in medical settings. The session covered the potential of VR to enhance medical training, patient treatment, and diagnostic procedures.
- Practical Application through Case Studies: The workshop included a detailed case study analysis that demonstrated real-world applications of VR in medicine. Attendees witnessed firsthand how VR can be used for complex medical simulations, improving surgical precision, and enhancing patient engagement.
- Hands-On Experience: Participants had the chance to use VR headsets, experiencing the immersive technology that is increasingly being integrated into medical practices. This hands-on segment allowed attendees to appreciate the practical benefits and challenges of VR applications.
This workshop was done with the support from the International Academy of Sciences and Arts in Bosnia and Herzegovina (IANUBIH), and the Society for Medical and Biological Engineering in Bosnia and Herzegovina (DMBIUBIH). Their joint efforts in organizing this event underscored the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in advancing medical technologies.
Looking Forward
The workshop on VR in medicine at Verlab Institute was not just an educational experience but also a stepping stone towards greater innovation in the healthcare sector. By bringing together experts and enthusiasts from various fields, we continue to explore how emerging technologies can drive progress and improve patient outcomes.
